What would you lose most if you lost your sight?
Campaigns
Everyday in Scotland, ten people begin to lose their sight - but only a tiny percentage will be offered counselling, despite the devastating impact this news can have on people's lives.
In most cases it can take months, even years, before patients can access support services. In fact, after first diagnosis, 23 per cent of people leave without even being certain of what condition caused their sight loss.
RNIB Scotland is pressing government and health boards to develop a network of emotional and practical support services to help people come to terms with sight loss and find their lives again.
We estimate that over 12,000 people each year require some level of support. But currently RNIB Scotland can only reach a fraction of these.
Please e.mail your MSP to say you support our campaign for better services. It need only take a few minutes and every voice lends strength to our campaign.
We urgently need improved services that ensure people aren't left isolated or frightened at a very vulnerable time in their lives.
